Environmental Impairment Liability
The cover we are most often asked to look at involves providing the purchaser of a business or site with funds to carry out a major environmental clean up. This is because clean up operations are often required by environmental enforcement agencies; post deal.
At the time of a sale, it is impossible to quantify the maximum potential exposure to subsequent clean up costs. Contamination could be localised or may even affect the whole site.
Based on the findings of a Phase 1 environmental report, we are able to obtain premium indications against the risk of subsequent clean up costs escalating beyond the agreed amounts at the time of sale.
